Valletta is the first single-pane Markdown editor. Valletta's unique Combined View displays only the line under the cursor as Markdown source, and it displays the rest in "marked-down" form. This makes Valletta a beautiful and distraction-free Markdown Editor that doesn't waste your precious screenspace with an unnecessary preview pane.
Valletta is also designed to help you share your writing - In addition to HTML, Valletta can export your document to Microsoft Word or PDF. Configure Valletta with CSS files so that the document you edit appears exactly as it will in the webpage.
Navigate your documents in Valletta by jumping straight to a header line from the dropdown list above the editor.
Valletta is fully integrated with Lion's fullscreen, Versions and Sandbox features. Lion's fullscreen mode paired with Valletta's combined editor leads to the most beautiful writing experience available on OS X.
1. Unique combined view.
2. Built-in quick reference card for those not as familiar with Markdown.
3. Configure Valletta with CSS.
4. Export as HTML, PDF, DOC.
5. Beautiful fullscreen writing experience.
6. Navigation bar.
For the uninitiated - Markdown is an exceedingly simple approach to formatting text, often used for rapidly creating beatiful HTML for blogposts, but increasingly used as a lightweight alternative to full Word Processors when creating any document.
Instead of higlighting a word and pressing CMD-I or the italics button, simply surround it with asterisks, like *this*, or two stars for bold. Any line beginning with a hash is formatted as a header, and any line beginning with a * followed by a space and some text will be laid out as a bulleted list. Download and give it a try...
