Change Menu Delay

This tweak allows you to change the delay, and therefore speed-up or slow-down, the amount of time it takes before menu's are shown.


To implement this tweak:

  1. Open the Windows Registry Editor (regedit.exe) by clicking Start, then Run, then in the open box type regedit and click OK.

  2. Browse your registry and find the key:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

  3. To set this to No delay:

    Create a new (or modify the existing) Dword value called MenuShowDelay, and set the value to 0.

    To set this to 400ms delay:

    Highlight the value MenuShowDelay and click Edit > Delete in the menu bar.

    To set this to 1s delay:

    Create a new (or modify the existing) Dword value called MenuShowDelay, and set the value to 1000.

    To set this to 2s delay:

    Create a new (or modify the existing) Dword value called MenuShowDelay, and set the value to 2000.

  4. To reset this setting to the default value:

    Highlight the value MenuShowDelay and click Edit > Delete in the menu bar.

  5. Close the Registry Editor by clicking File > Exit in the menu bar.

  6. To activate this tweak please close all instances of explorer.exe, or wait until the next reboot.
