Disable Aero Snap

In the Windows Aero mode, application windows snap to the sides of the screen by default. This tweak allows you to change that behavior.


To implement this tweak:

  1. Open the Windows Registry Editor (regedit.exe) by clicking Start, then Run, then in the open box type regedit and click OK.

  2. Browse your registry and find the key:
    [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]

  3. To set this to Enabled:

    Create a new (or modify the existing) Dword value called WindowArrangementActive, and set the value to 1.

    To set this to Disabled:

    Create a new (or modify the existing) Dword value called WindowArrangementActive, and set the value to 0.

  4. To reset this setting to the default value:

    Create a new (or modify the existing) Dword value called WindowArrangementActive, and set the value to 1.

  5. Close the Registry Editor by clicking File > Exit in the menu bar.

  6. To activate this tweak please close all instances of explorer.exe, or wait until the next reboot.
